Qualification purpose

Level 2 Award in Babysitting (RQF) has been developed to provide leaners with the knowledge and understanding of the skills required when babysitting. The qualification covers from Birth to 5 years and includes the babysitter’s responsibilities to the parent(s), accident prevention and fire safety.

Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) (RQF) - 601/8715/3(Equivalent to NQF 4)

Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) (RQF) is aimed at learners, working or wishing to work in early year’s education and care.

The qualification develops the knowledge and skills required to work with children from birth to 5 years together with an understanding of the expected development of children aged to 5 to 7 years. Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) (RQF) will also provide a broad background understanding of the early learning workforce sector and an introduction to the practical skills and knowledge required to provide an awareness of the range of jobs and work settings in the early learning sector.

To successfully achieve the Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) (RQF) learners must complete all 17 mandatory units, achieving a total of 62 credits.

Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF)- 603/3963/9

Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) is aimed at learners working in a variety of senior adult care roles within but not limited to residential care, domiciliary care or day centres in a senior role. Those working towards achieving a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care will have, and develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibility which enables them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for instance.

Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery. Their team members will look to them for inspiration, and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues. Learners could work in a variety of settings in adult social care, including but not limited to residential care, domiciliary care or day centres.

The qualification would also be suitable for Lead Personal Assistants who work as part of a Personal Assistant team at a senior level.

In order to successfully achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF), learners must complete at least 70 credits made up of 36 mandatory units and 34 credits from the optional units.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF) develops the skills, knowledge and understanding of learners to the standards required to confirm competence in an occupational role to manage practice and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children and young people’s services.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England)(RQF) is aimed at managers and advanced practitioners working in health and social care and children and young people’s services. This qualification includes optional pathways in management, residential services and advance practice.

Qualification Structure/Rules of Combination

Learners must complete a maximum of 90 credits including 30 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 60 credits from one of the pathways in order to achieve the Focus Awards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF)
